FAQs

Can anyone attend a workshop?

Yes! We encourage anyone who wants to learn from the industry’s most highly sought
out artists to take a workshop.

What happens at a workshop and how long does it take?

Workshops are divided into two segments. The whole day should take about 6 hours.
The first segment features our host artist giving a demonstration where attendees are free
to ask questions. This is your chance to interact with and ask our host all of their most
popular trade secrets! After a short catered break, the second segment of the workshop
will begin. Those who purchase a seat at the Artist Portfolio Event are invited to stay
and work with our host artist one on one at their own photo shoot. This is a unique
opportunity to build your portfolio with the best in the industry and have them critique
your work!

Where are workshops held?

The location for the workshops varies from city to city. Exact location is revealed at the
time of purchase. Attendees will be emailed all details including the address, hotel and
parking information.

Do I need to bring my makeup kit?

If you decide to stay for the Artist Portfolio Event, we do ask that you bring your basic
kit and clean brushes. Artists should be prepared to work on any given model – this
includes a variety of skin tones, skin types, and face shapes. We will have makeup and
makeup tools available for your use. There will also be product information available on
basic tools recommended for your kit if you are just starting out.

Do I need to bring my own model if I participate in the photo shoot?

No, we provide the models. Makeup artists booked on set often don’t know who their
client will be, so we encourage you to be prepared to do your job on any face. Our
models are agency ready or signed by agencies such as L.A. Models, Q Model
Management and Zuri Model and Talent, which we partner with often.

Who will be the photographer for the shoot?

The photographer will be announced for individual workshops as details are released.

How will I be able to receive my image if I participate in the photo shoot?

You will receive an email to the address we obtain from your registration, with a high-
resolution photo attached. The file will be one lightly retouched image chosen by the
host, photographer and the Creative Director of IAS. If you want to get more images
from your shoot, let us know and we will forward the photographer’s contact information
to you for personal ordering.

There are a lot of makeup workshops out there, why should I choose IAS?

At our workshops, you’re able to spend the day learning, practicing, sharing, and
getting personalized tips from someone whose work you admire. You get to hear how
our host artist got their start in the industry, ask questions and learn their tips and
techniques. There are only a handful of artists that really make their mark in this industry,
and our goal is to bring you those talented individuals up close and personal.

We also feel it is important for you to have networking opportunities amongst your
peers, as well as be introduced to cutting edge products and information. We provide
an environment geared towards pushing your artistry to the next level, while creating
an experience of education in the arts like never before. The sponsors who partner with
us ensure that we have high quality tools available for your use during and after the
workshop. Everything you walk away with after an IAS workshop makes the investment
in your artistry well worth it!

Will IAS hold workshops in other fields?

Our makeup workshops have become very popular, so our goal is to expand our reach
with top hair stylists, fashion stylists and choreographers. At IAS, the artist is the
celebrity. Their expertise and involvement behind the scenes helps create what the world
sees, and we appreciate them for that.
